Xbox Version Overview

The version of Zenless Zone Zero for the Xbox is 100% made for the Series X|S, as evidenced through running on both systems. On the Series X, ZZZ supports native 4k@60FPS with HDR10, giving you an experience somewhat close to that of a well-built PC Gaming rig. The Series S plays with a native lower resolution while maintaining approximately the same frame pacing, making it still a good way to go.

This is a win for cross-save and cross-play from day one for everyone. You will use your HoYoverse Account as the base for playing across systems, therefore all Agents, W-Engines, Drive Discs, Inter-Knot Progress, and Polychrome will transfer to and from Xbox, PS5, PC, iOS, and Android without any platform differences or separate progression systems.

Lastly, Controller support on Xbox is stronger than on previous consoles, in particular when compared with last-gen systems. ZZZ's gameplay often becomes frenetic quickly when added elements like chain attacks, dodge counters, EX specials, and fast enemy rotation are included at higher levels in the multi-player modes of gameplay, mainly Shiyu Defense and Hollow Zero. It is evident that much effort has gone into the button mapping by HoYoverse, as all buttons/command buttons are placed in a very deliberate way to eliminate feelings of cramping and, while still having complete control of all trigger/button commands, provides players both ease of control for casual play and as functional controls for more tightly grouped rotations.

Zenless Zone Zero on Xbox Game Pass

Despite being free-to-play, the members of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate receive additional bonuses on top of the game played for free on the service. HoYoverse has included monthly drops to Ultimate members as a way to duplicate some of the benefits that Genshin players receive while they play via the Ultimate service.

Included in those monthly drops may be:

• Polychromes

• Stamina-related items

• Dennies

• Consumables tied to in-game events

While the monthly drop will not completely offset a user's ability to level up, it is an additional tool that players can use on a continuous basis.

Another neat feature that is available through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is the ability for players to access cloud gaming support, which is useful if a player is logging into the game from another device without installing the entire game client. As a result, this is a great way for players come to the game on daily to complete daily tasks, event check-ins, or just checking in on the timers for event banners and promotions.

To receive the benefits of the Game Pass program, you need to link your Xbox account with your HoYoverse account, and can do so in-game settings or by going through the HoYoLab portal. This is a one-time process, and will not impact your existing account on the console or PC. You should still start at the earliest—you won’t simply have your accounts linked by the time a reward period expires; you might miss out on whatever drops after the period ends.

How To Get Started With Zenless Zone Zero on Xbox

Starting ZZZ is simple. Just go to the Microsoft Store, search for Zenless Zone Zero and download the free client (typically around 30-50 GB). The developer, HoYoverse, usually puts out pre-downloads ahead of major patches; this is useful if you want to have updates ready to go on launch day.

Given that other platforms (Xbox/PS5/PC/mobile) released the content simultaneously, one benefit of launching a game later on an additional platform is not having a 'late' platform version. Zenless Zone Zero has content parity on Xbox and PC/PS5/mobile free to play version. Additionally, each platform has the same patch cycle and releases new Agents, story updates, "Hollow" content, and time-limited events at the same time. Xbox Release Confusion

A lot of the confusion about Xbox zenless zone zero comes from how long it took before a definitive announcement was made.
