Zenless Zone Zero Xbox Release Date and Version Timeline

Zenless Zone Zero Xbox delivers a thrilling, next-gen experience with cross-play, exclusive rewards, and seamless Game Pass Ultimate bonuses.

Zenless Zone Zero has been available on Xbox since its launch of Zenless Zone Zero and Version 2.0, "Where Clouds Embrace the Dawn," as part of the first anniversary celebration for Zenless Zone Zero on Xbox on June 6, 2025. Thus, when Xbox players are receiving Version 2.0 and all of its new content, they will have access to the entire Zenless Zone Zero experience while the game progresses through Versions 2.2 and into Version 2.7 in early 2026.

The official announcement from HoYoverse on June 6, 2025, regarding the Xbox release provided clarity for those previously uncertain about when they could play this game. The launch of Version 2.0 was significant for the Xbox player base because it coincided with the first anniversary of Zenless Zone Zero, thus providing a more impactful experience as well as an incentive to all players with a set of reward claiming opportunities during the anniversary window.

Anniversary players were rewarded with:

  1. a choice of one (1) free S-Rank Agent of their choice

  2. one (1) free S-Rank W-Engine from the Standard Banner

  3. four total pulls equal to 1,600 Polychrome

  4. Unique anniversary title/avatar combo for use as profile title/avatar

Additionally, all regions (North America, Europe, South America, Asia, etc.) received simultaneous access to the Xbox edition Zenless Zone Zero, and therefore players in all regions had full access upon launch; which was made possible through pre-launch announcement of the Xbox Store page and pre-load options to allow all players to be prepared to log in and play Zenless Zone Zero through the entirety of the launch events in the city of New Eridu as soon as the servers were available (June 6) for play.

Last but not least, this release of Zenless Zone Zero is current-gen only. Xbox Version of Zenless Zone Zero Does Not Release for Last Gen Hardware

Zenless Zone Zero has released for both Xbox series X/S besides it not being available on last-gen hardware - you will not be able to play on an Xbox 1 as per HoYoVerses announcement - the same applies to the Playstation. Overall HoYoverse is planning on a strategy similar to that of Playstation, making sense as far as performance of the game goes.

Xbox Version Overview

The version of Zenless Zone Zero for the Xbox is 100% made for the Series X|S, as evidenced through running on both systems. On the Series X, ZZZ supports native 4k@60FPS with HDR10, giving you an experience somewhat close to that of a well-built PC Gaming rig. The Series S plays with a native lower resolution while maintaining approximately the same frame pacing, making it still a good way to go.

This is a win for cross-save and cross-play from day one for everyone. You will use your HoYoverse Account as the base for playing across systems, therefore all Agents, W-Engines, Drive Discs, Inter-Knot Progress, and Polychrome will transfer to and from Xbox, PS5, PC, iOS, and Android without any platform differences or separate progression systems.

Lastly, Controller support on Xbox is stronger than on previous consoles, in particular when compared with last-gen systems. ZZZ's gameplay often becomes frenetic quickly when added elements like chain attacks, dodge counters, EX specials, and fast enemy rotation are included at higher levels in the multi-player modes of gameplay, mainly Shiyu Defense and Hollow Zero. It is evident that much effort has gone into the button mapping by HoYoverse, as all buttons/command buttons are placed in a very deliberate way to eliminate feelings of cramping and, while still having complete control of all trigger/button commands, provides players both ease of control for casual play and as functional controls for more tightly grouped rotations.

Zenless Zone Zero on Xbox Game Pass

Despite being free-to-play, the members of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate receive additional bonuses on top of the game played for free on the service. HoYoverse has included monthly drops to Ultimate members as a way to duplicate some of the benefits that Genshin players receive while they play via the Ultimate service.

Included in those monthly drops may be:

  • Polychromes

  • Stamina-related items

  • Dennies

  • Consumables tied to in-game events

While the monthly drop will not completely offset a user's ability to level up, it is an additional tool that players can use on a continuous basis.

Another neat feature that is available through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is the ability for players to access cloud gaming support, which is useful if a player is logging into the game from another device without installing the entire game client. As a result, this is a great way for players come to the game on daily to complete daily tasks, event check-ins, or just checking in on the timers for event banners and promotions.

To receive the benefits of the Game Pass program, you need to link your Xbox account with your HoYoverse account, and can do so in-game settings or by going through the HoYoLab portal. This is a one-time process, and will not impact your existing account on the console or PC. You should still start at the earliest—you won’t simply have your accounts linked by the time a reward period expires; you might miss out on whatever drops after the period ends.

How To Get Started With Zenless Zone Zero on Xbox

Starting ZZZ is simple. Just go to the Microsoft Store, search for Zenless Zone Zero and download the free client (typically around 30-50 GB). The developer, HoYoverse, usually puts out pre-downloads ahead of major patches; this is useful if you want to have updates ready to go on launch day.

When you first launch the game, you’ll be prompted to either sign in or create an HoYoverse account. This is the same account you’ll use throughout each of the game’s supported platforms. If you’ve already played on PC, PS5 or mobile, you’ll be able to just log in and pick up right where you left off, meaning no annoying manual transfer processes, save migrations or anything of that sort.

An important factor to consider at this point, however, is that when you’re creating your account there is an opportunity for you to select your server – and you can’t switch servers once you select an account; you can only do so one time during the initial account creation.

The available servers are:

  1. America

  2. Europe

  3. Asia

  4. TW/HK/MO

Since these servers are region locked for friend/in-game coplay you will want to be on the same server as your friends. Typically, when selecting your server you’ll want to pick the server closest to your physical location regardless of a community group you're apart of, as latency will affect the timing of dodges/parries in ZZZ. If you’re logging into an existing account, your old server selection will automatically carry over. ## Xbox's Content Parity with Zenless Zone Zero

Given that other platforms (Xbox/PS5/PC/mobile) released the content simultaneously, one benefit of launching a game later on an additional platform is not having a 'late' platform version. Zenless Zone Zero has content parity on Xbox and PC/PS5/mobile free to play version. Additionally, each platform has the same patch cycle and releases new Agents, story updates, "Hollow" content, and time-limited events at the same time. Xbox users don't have to wait for their roadmap or get a cut down version; they are part of the same live-service cycle.

As of March 2026, the game was on Version 2.7 "Champions Never Fall to the Past;" released on March 24, 2026; this version introduced two new S-Rank Agents, Nangong Yu (Ether Stun) and Cissia (Electric Attack), advanced the Hollow Champion storyline, introduced themed activities at the Simmer Hotpot Restaurant in Lumina Square, and refreshed the Simulated Battle Trial with new enemy lineups & leaderboards. Xbox Series users got all of these updates at the same time as everyone else on all other platforms.

Additionally, all banner timing is synchronized as well; all Limited Time Agent Banners are all released when the Banner is scheduled for all platforms (W-Engine Banners, Event Rewards and Anniversary Campaigns). So if you started on the Xbox during Version 2.0 launch window, you had the same opportunity to receive first anniversary rewards as everyone on all platforms. Looking ahead, it seems that milestone rewards and milestone anniversary events will continue to occur on their corresponding schedule.

Zenless Zone Zero Xbox FAQs

Xbox Release Confusion

A lot of the confusion about Xbox zenless zone zero comes from how long it took before a definitive announcement was made. The game was released on June 2025 with Version 2.0, and the game continued through 2.X App Updates into 2026. So there is no separate or delayed branch of the game for Xbox. Xbox Players are included in the same live version of the game as they are on PC, PlayStation, and Mobile versions.

Also, no — there is no Xbox One version of this game. HoYoverse has strongly stated this mapping. The game's graphics require current-generation versions of devices to either run correctly or load off-screen; older console devices would severely impact the integrity of graphics. If you still use earlier-generation Xbox consoles, your best bet for trying out Zenless Zone Zero is using the Series X/S consoles. The latter is the cheapest starting point and easiest to get into.

Xbox User Feedback

If you want to have a physical copy of the game on disc for Xbox, HoYoverse has announced the availability of a Collector's Edition to ship out for the Xbox Series X starting on September 17, 2026. You can pre-order one for $59.99 through their official Panax Store now.

Included in the package are:

• a copy of Zenless Zone Zero on disc

• an Anby acrylic standee with NFC technology

• one Xbox Series X-Exclusive Collector's Postcard

• a code to redeem exclusive in-game items

• seven character image cards

• a character badge pin

• a Proxy Acrylic Avatar Card featuring Belle and Wise as a duo

This will be the second physical edition that HoYoverse has offered for a game following their release of Honkai: Star Rail - Trailblazer Edition earlier this year in 2025.

In terms of controls and performance, players will enjoy the same tight combat feel on Xbox Live that they are used to on the PC and Playstation 5. ZZZ features the same core action mechanics as before, such as Perfect Dodge, quick swaps, and various timing-based systems, which work just fine using a standard controller with no need for any additional hardware. Additionally, playing wirelessly under normal conditions does not cause any significant amount of input lag. With the 60 FPS target on Series X**, fast-paced action will remain readable even in dense combat scenarios.

Final Thoughts

On June 6, 2025, Zenless Zone Zero launched for Xbox Series X|S along with the massive Version 2.0 anniversary update. Since its launch, HoYoverse has treated Xbox as an equal to the other platforms in which they operate with cross-save, Game Pass bonuses, synchronized updates, and full content parity through Version 2.7.

So, if you're still wondering when Zenless Zone Zero will come to Xbox, the answer is plain and simple: it already has; you can download it free from the Microsoft Store, sign into the HoYoverse account linked to your Xbox console, choose the server you want to play on, and start playing in New Eridu.
